Anupama Deshapnde is a former Bollywood Playback Singer who won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer award for her folk song Sohni Chinab Di in Sohni Mahiwal in the year 1985.
Anupama is of Maharashtrian origin and began her singing career in Marathi films. She shot to instant fame after winning the Filmfare Award in 1985 for her folk song Sohni Chinab di kinare picturised on Poonam Dhillon in Sohni Mahiwal. Thereafter she sang for films like Kaash where her song Oh Jaana tu jaan se hai pyaara was well received.One of her biggest hit was the folk song Humko aajkal hai intezar from Sailaab (1990) whihc was picturised on the then reigning queen Madhuri Dixit.
Inspite of the award & popularity of few songs Anupama was not able to compete with singers like Alka Yagnik & Kavita Krishnamurthy who raced ahead of her. Her voice was last heard in a item song in the 2001 film Farz.
